                                                                                     Outline

In the movie Disney’s “The Lion King”, religion is delivered through various symbols, themes and biblical references that highlight Christianity. For my webpage project, I am going to demonstrate how “The Lion King” characters relate to religious figures, for example Simba as Moses or Jesus. Secondly, I am going to describe how the symbols in the movie relate to Christianity for instance “The circle of life”. Lastly, I am going to explain the Christianity themes in the movie, for example the theme of sacrificial love and afterlife.

Arguments:

Simba relates to Moses because just like Moses, Simba is forced to leave his homeland but he is told by God to go back to the land and free the people from Scar.

Simba as Jesus- Simba is the son of Mufasa which makes him “The Son Of God”.

Mufasa – Relates to god because he is the king of pride rock and he watches over Simba when he dies.

Scar- Is like Satan because scar is jealous of his brother Mufasa and he wants to be the only one in power. Therefore, Scar decides to kill his brother Mufasa.

Rafiki- As John the Baptist because he baptises Simba at the beginning of the movie.

Symbols:

“The Circle of Life”- Celebration of the life of Simba.

Baptism Water – Dirt is used in the baptism to lightly shower Simba’s head.

Themes:

Sacrificial love- Mufasa sacrifices his own life for Simba, Just like Jesus sacrificed his own life, so people could continue to live on earth.

“Faith”- Spirit of Christ lives in everyone all the time.

Baptism – Simba gets Baptized

Story of Moses related to Simba

Christianity – baptism, sacrificial love, faith.

“ He lives In you” – When Simba looks at his reflection he doesn’t see his reflection, he sees his fathers, then Rafiki says “ He lives In You” god lives in every Christian.

Adam and Eve- Scar sets limitations on Simba, just like Adam and Eve were forbidden to do certain things.
